Your 2nd birthday came and went

Your second birthday came and went, along with an awesome Christmas, and now your coming up on 2.5 years old. We got rid of your binkis a few months after your birthday and you did pretty great transitioning. You started potty training and as of today your pretty much potty trained except for night time. You did let us know a couple of times this week that you had to go potty early in the morning so I think the nighttime training will come soon as well!

You continue to make us laugh you’re starting to test the boundaries a bit with your sassy attitude. You told us the other day that daddy and I are your best friends (tear) you’re becoming very independent over the past several months, putting on your shoes and taking them off, taking off your jacket and insisting on putting on your own undies every morning.
You and I were in a very scary storm a few weeks ago, I swore it was a tornado but they weather folks are calling it a microburst. I’m still saying tornado, I was so scared while we were in the car all I could do was pray to keep you safe and out of harms way. Thankfully we made it out fine, all of us. You still keep talking by the “big under storm”… say the cutest things!
  1. You tell us we are cute and you love us, pretty much every day.
  2. You like when things “matches” you say this if you see something that matches like the other day we were both wearing Seahawks shirts and you said “mommy we matches”.
  3. You like to know what’s going on ahead of time so we talk about what might be going on that day or coming up on the weekend.
  4. You talk back occasionally and have been getting a few more spankings and timeouts than I’d like to admit but you seem to learn from them for the most part.
  5. Brushing your teeth seems to still be a struggle but you’re getting much better.
  6. You love sleeping with your buddies: lamby, jaffy (the giraffe) and purple bear and snorts the little red bull
  7. You weigh 35 lbs and wear size eight shoes and are in 3t-4t clothes. You love your light up princess shoes and Troll shoes and insist on wearing them.
  8. You love dancing in the mirror at gymnastics and jumping in the foam pit is your favorite.
  9. You had your first stomach flu in February and boy was it icky, it’s so sad to see you sick or in any pain.
  10. Favorite food (rice): Loves dried mangos, berries, French fries, bananas, hot dogs, pizza, broccoli, green bean pouches, sweet potato pouches, ice cream from Costco, mashed potatoes and spaghetti. Fruit snacks are always a win as well. Oh and cookies, you love cookies and know when you’ve been given a crappy organic one. 😂
    Your favorite shows include:
    • Sherman and Mr. Peedbody
    • Trolls
    • Moana
    • Sing
    • Shimmer and shine
    • Secret life of pets
    • Goldie and bear
    • Daddy Finger on the iPad, good lord will you ever get sick of it?! You could watch it for hours and hours! You make anything into that song!
Gave you the toddler test on Mother’s Day after you gave me your sweet cards you made at school and you and daddy made me one too!
    TODDLER TEST Results:
What is your name? Harlow Carson

What is your favorite color? Blue
What is your favorite food? Rice (very true)

What is your favorite show? Lorax (only because that’s what was on the tv)
What is your favorite song? Justin Timberlake
What is your favorite animal? Elephant
What makes you happy? Mommy and daddy! ❤❤
Where is your favorite place to go? Grandma and papas
What do you want to be when you grow up? A baby
We are planning a trip to Disneyland in September, you seem to be very excited about this, you talk about and wearing your Anna dress and Minni dress. I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy the rides as well. It will be a vacation full of memories!
    Love you!

You’re almost two. TWO!

You’re just a month away from being two years old. TWO are you kidding me?! And I haven’t written a blog entry since May. #badmom

The days go by faster and faster and I know I say this all of the time but it does and although you’re at such a fun age right now I’m missing my baby who I can just hold and cuddle and rock for hours. Instead you sit for a minute then on to the next thing. The times I get to hold you for longer I cherish.

We had a great Summer with you, we hit up parks, went for lots of bike rides, visited the NW Trek, visited Cannon Beach for the 4th of July, where you didn’t really enjoy the sand very much but loved eating ice cream and strolling the streets every chance we got. It was great Summer and of course a fast one!

You are  the sweetest thing and growing up before our eyes! Talking sentences like crazy, you can tell us what you want and how you’re feeling and even when you have to go potty! Yup, your sort of potty training right now (well, depending on the day). For a couple weeks you were going a lot and asking to go potty but I think the fun of it has fizzled out for you and you might ask to go poop sometimes, which I don’t blame you, who wants to sit in a poopy diaper? But either way you’re getting the idea of it!

People are always tell us how well you speak, and are impressed by your vocabulary! Who said you needed breastmilk to be smart? 😉 You’re doing just fine.

You’re very polite, you’re always saying, “please, thank you, and you’re welcome.”

You chase Ozzie around the house trying to give him hugs and kisses and tell him “awe shes so cute,” you refer to him as a “she” you must get that from papa Mike, he always thinks cats are girls. 🙂

School is going well for the most part, you have your days of pulling hair and smacking so we hope you’re not ‘that’ kid. You love your friend Valentina the most we are told and love to sing and dance and are always making the school ladies laugh.

You say some of the funniest things, you seemed to have picked up a southern accent when you say some words, we have no idea where that came from but in your little raspy voice it’s the cutest!

“Are you ok momma (or dadda)”
“You like it”
“Oh yah, it’s going to be fun”
“I wanna watch finger” (this is your favorite right now, it’s a silly little animation and song that has 100 versions to it on YouTube) you love it and we find it very weird. But whatever keeps you busy.

You love dancing to Justin timberlake, shakira, Macklemore. You love swimming lessons but we have taking a little time off from that so you can enjoy gymnastics. I think you’re going to be a great gymnastics athlete, you dominated the balance beam last night and you didn’t even look down at your feet! We were impressed. Although, I think your dad might enjoy it even more than you, you’ll find him jumping up and down on the mats when nobody is looking. Lol

Your dad and I are currently on a plane to Arizona, you’re staying with grandma and papa and auntie brandy and aceman are down too. I miss you so much I just hate leaving you. It’s tough but I know it will be fun for you and us.

In other news:
The presidential election is coming up we have two scary candidates. Hillary Clinton and Donald trump.
There’s been an odd clown fad going around and all sorts of scary things happening in the world which terrifies me in what kind of world you’ll grow up in. I just hope it’s a better world when you are older.
I’m still working for Saint Martin’s University as the Creative Director and your dad is still working at Heritage Bank as the marketing master kicking ass and taking names of course.

We are now trying to plan your 2nd birthday party, although i’m scared to after what happened last year with your hand, foot and mouth sickness. I hope we can redeem ourselves so you have a wonderful birthday with lots of great memories

Love you sweet little Harlow.

This world can be and will be…

Harlow, as you grow up I’m not 100% sure what kind of a world you will grow up in. I do know from experience so far this world can be and will be tough and cruel at sometimes but I know you’ll be an amazing woman. I would like to leave you with these lyrics to a song that I love…I think Tim McGraw (country singer that I’m sure you’ll think is lame in years to come) sums it up pretty well.

Humble And Kind
You know there’s a light that glows by the front door

Don’t forget the key’s under the mat

Childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind

Go to church ’cause your momma says to

Visit grandpa every chance that you can

It won’t be wasted time

Always stay humble and kind
Hold the door, say please, say thank you

Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie

I know you got mountains to climb but

Always stay humble and kind

When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you

When the work you put in is realized

Let yourself feel the pride but

Always stay humble and kind
Don’t expect a free ride from no one

Don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why

Bitterness keeps you from flyin’

Always stay humble and kind

Know the difference between sleeping with someone

And sleeping with someone you love

“I love you” ain’t no pick up line so

Always stay humble and kind
Hold the door, say please, say thank you

Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie

I know you got mountains to climb but

Always stay humble and kind

When those dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you

When the work you put in is realized

Let yourself feel the pride but

Always stay humble and kind
When it’s hot, eat a root beer popsicle

Shut off the AC and roll the windows down

Let that summer sun shine

Always stay humble and kind

Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you

When you get where you’re goin

Don’t forget turn back around

And help the next one in line

Always stay humble and kind

Happy 1st Birthday Harlow Ryan

At this time one year ago, you were just over 2 hours old. We were excited, overwhelmed, terrified and couldn’t stop staring at you. We had no idea what was in store for us that night let alone what to expect for the next year!

One year later I can say we are still excited, overwhelmed, terrified and still can’t take our eyes off of you and loving every moment of it.

For your 1st birthday we had a big bash planned out the Sunday before your birthday. We rented a great spot, I made decorations and we sent out invites and had 40+ people coming to celebrate. The day before your party you came down with hand foot and mouth disease and we had to cancel the party. We were so upset we had to cancel and wouldn’t have those special memories.

Now that you were feeling better we kicked off your birthday weekend with your first visit with Santa and the zoo for animals, Zoolights and a Carousel ride. Today you woke up with a sweet smile on your face (like always) as we sang you happy birthday, you ate scrambled eggs and a banana, played then had a nap. We ventured out to the mall, then Red Robin where you had a grilled cheese sandwich and they sang you happy birthday. Nana and papa came over for gifts and cake. You weren’t too sure about the cake but you tasted it and seemed to enjoy it…sort of…. No big cake smash for you, I’m okay with that, less mess to clean up :).  We had a great weekend celebrating you!

One year fun stuff:

  • Things you love to say: hello touchdown, bye bye, hi, tickle tickle, baby, thank you, Up, No
  • Foods you enjoy: crackers, Mac and cheese,  eggs, pears, peaches, bananas, meatballs, olives, cheese, bread, pouch foods
  • What you’re up to: Scooting and crawling, pulling yourself up and standing, giving high-fives, loving books, Mickey and Mini, Shrek and Frozen, chasing after your fuzzy brother, love your binkis, playing with your blocks

Every single day with you, there is laughter and love, you turn a bad day into a great day no matter what. Thank you Harlow for making the past year the best year of our lives.

Although I hate that you’re growing so fast and time is flying by, it gets better and better watching your grow and learn new things daily. You’re so smart and silly.

happy birthday snuggle buggle. We love you!

Your first fever, 103.4

You had your first fever yesterday and into the night. We panicked, we gave you Tylenol right off the bat when it seems that they don’t really care about temps unless they get really high? Either way it is so sad to see you not yourself. You slept with us all night and seem to have a lower temp this morning. You’re extra snuggly and want to rest. Hopefully you’re feeling much better today.  For now, cartoons and cool rags on the head. Xoxox

Planning your 1st birthday party?

8 months, 9 months and now……. 10 1/2 months! You’ve been a very busy girl, and I can’t believe how quickly you learn things in just a matter of a day or two. You’re such a smarty pants and continue to make us laugh for hours out of every day.

Past 3 months recap:

  • Family reunion out the beach, you cut your finger on a beer can and got a tiny bit of a sunburn (bad mom moments for the weekend)
  • You had your first vacation at Sun Lakes with everyone! It was such a blast having you there, you swam, you played with cousin Ace, had your first taste of ice cream, went on your first boat ride and Sea Doo ride with daddy.
  • You enjoyed more Mariner’s games and are now enjoying the excitement of watching the Seahawks play (even though they aren’t winning)
  • You’re getting curly hair that is almost close enough for a tiny pony tail on top, you have 8 teeth, you have the most perfect splits (you must be double-jointed) you scoot your way around the room as quickly as possible (and no, you’re still not crawling but that’s okay!) Pulling yourself up onto things whenever you have a chance.
  • You’re saying “hi, ball, baby” everything is a “baby” right now, you blow kisses, you’re giving high-5’s you know where the cat, dog and lights are at when you’re asked, you love your scrambled eggs, cheese, puffs, noodles, chicken, avocados and of course your water in your sippy cup.
  • You love your building blocks, books, swinging at the park and pretending like you’re talking on the phone and being on the golf course with daddy.
  • You’re laugh is contagious, you smile all of the time, you’re sleeping HAS been awesome up until the 9.5 month mark…. not sure what’s going on here but I’m hoping it’s just a stage. 😉
  • 10 month check up you were 23.8 lbs and 28 inches long (growing nicely but breaking mommas back)
  • We had family photos recently and you rocked them of course in your pink tutu and pearls
  • We took you to the pumpkin patch this weekend, where you picked out your favorite pumpkins, watched the animals and laughed at all of the rest of the kids running around. I know you can’t wait to start running around on your own.

This month we are planning your 1 year birthday and getting you ready for your first Halloween! You’re going to be a purple octopus this year, no, not a princess, I’m sure there will be plenty of years of princess outfits. 🙂

Don’t blink

Love momma
